It was all fun and frolics over two nights as workplace teams from across the district took part in the Active Ashfield Games ‘It’s A Knockout’ competitions at Kingsway Park, Kirkby.
The competition is part of Active Ashfield’s campaign to engage workplaces in becoming more active through fun and sociable activity.
Teams tackled obstacles, water and foam throughout the evening, gaining points along the way.
Twelve teams participated in Tuesdays’ competition with Everyone Health finishing as winners and Kings Mill Hospital Stroke Unit as runners-up.
Wednesday evening saw 11 teams lining up to face the challenge with JTF from Hucknall taking victory and New Cross Nutters claiming the runners-up slot.
Keely Dove from JTF really enjoyed the event, saying that she had ‘”never had so much fun. It was brilliant. Winning was the icing on the cake. Thank you!”
Teams were also given the opportunity to make a donation to Active Ashfield’s adopted charity for the year. Over £800 was raised over the two nights for the Ashfield and Mansfield Dementia Action Alliance.
Councillor Amanda Brown, portfolio holder for Health and Wellbeing for Ashfield District Council said: “Ashfield District Council is pleased to have received the Nottinghamshire Wellbeing @ Work Silver Award and are now working towards Gold standard which includes engaging workplaces across Ashfield in health promotion and activities.
“It’s great to see so many workplace teams taking part, having fun and raising funds for a great local cause”.
