The Christmas Shop Window competition being hosted in Kirkby has seen a huge response from businesses in both the town centre and surrounding area.
Kirkby Christmas Festival team, in association with Mansfield and Ashfield 2020, invited all its town centre businesses with a shop window to deck out their shop displays in a festive Christmas theme, with dozens of traders responding.
The competition is aimed at promoting Kirkby Town Centre and its businesses, encouraging community spirit, increasing footfall and customer spend. With Kirkby’s retail landscape continuing to improve, the town centre offers residents and visitors everything needed for Christmas on the local high street.
There is still time for the competitors to touch up their displays before judging commences on Thursday 8 December, the night before Kirkby’s Christmas tree lighting event. The judging will be undertaken by representatives from Ashfield District Council, Kirkby Rotary Club and Kirkby Churches Together.
Super prizes have been donated by Boots, Morrisons, Wetherspoons, The Badger Box, Co-Op Funeral Care and the Festival Hall Leisure Centre.
Councillor Don Davis, Deputy Leader of Ashfield District Council, said: “We've had a great response from the town considering it's our first attempt at this competition.
“The support from the larger retailers in the town in donating prizes was amazing and it really shows the quality of business we have in Kirkby, not only in the brand names, but in the individuals and teams that represent them.”
