Thousands line Ashfield streets for Tour of Britain

Wednesday 6 September

Thousands of residents lined the streets of Ashfield to welcome the Tour of Britain to the district on Wednesday morning (6 September).

Making up a vital part of stage four of the prestigious bike race, the route weaved 8km around the town centre of Mansfield before heading towards the Ashfield district where the sprints and hill climbs really started and then heading towards its final destination of Newark.

With its global audience, the Tour of Britain is the biggest free live attendance event in the UK and attracts over 1.6million spectators over the eight day event.

Schools, communities and businesses from Sutton, Kirkby, Selston, Hucknall and everywhere in between were out in full voice to cheer on the riders as they sped through Ashfield.
