UK Sausage Week was back with a Banger!

Monday 5 November

Ashfield District Council backed UK Sausage Week in order to support local butchers.

Ashfield District Council used UK Sausage Week as a chance to publicise the local traders produce and to encourage more people to shop in the market. Ashfield District Council worked with the traders in the Indoor Market to promote their fresh sausages with special offers and flavours. There were offers on fresh sausage rolls, sausages, as well as condiments, sauces and chutneys to accompany the sausages.

One of the butchers, Colledges Butchers, based in the Indoor Market, had a stand where people could have a go at making their own sausages. They also held a competition for members of the public to win their own height in sausage. The Leader of Ashfield District Council, Cllr Jason Zadrozny, decided to have a go to raise awareness of shopping locally and supporting the butchers.

Cllr Jason Zadrozny, Leader of Ashfield District Council, says “It is so important for our community to support the local traders. The markets are at the heart of our town centres, they need our support to maintain their longevity and to ensure they are here for the future. The week was a chance to recognise the hard work that the traders in Idlewells Indoor Market put in everyday and the fantastic produce they sell.”
