Statement of Community Involvement
The Statement of Community Involvement (SCI) sets out how the Council will involve local people and organisations in the planning process including both the preparation of the Local Plan as well as the determination of planning applications. The SCI explains how people can be involved at each stage of plan making and in the consideration of a planning application.
Ashfield District Council has adopted a number of previous SCI documents, the first being in November 2006, with subsequent revisions in October 2010 and July 2013.
Following the formal withdrawal of its Submission Local Plan in July 2014, the Council has undertaken a number of revised evidence base studies and drafted a new timetable for resubmitting an Ashfield Local Plan to the Secretary of State. As a result of this work, the Council has revised its SCI to reflect its new timetable and encompass any revisions to national policy.
The Council undertook a 4 week period of consultation on the draft document between Friday 11th September and Friday 23rd October 2015. The Council received 9 consultation responses, which have been compiled with a Council response in the Consultation Statement. This document can be viewed here.
Following the period of consultation, in accordance with the provisions of section 23(5) of the Planning and Compulsory Purchase Act 2004 on 25th July 2013, the revised document was adopted via Cabinet Approval on 7th January 2016.
