The Council’s Community Safety Service comprises of a number of areas; Complex Case Management, Community Protection Officers, ASB and Nuisance Casework, Domestic Abuse and Safeguarding and CCTV which all play a key role in addressing, preventing and reducing anti-social behaviour across the district and making our communities safer.
The Community Safety Team was launched in 2009 and at that time largely consisted of a team of Community Protection Officers who responded to on-street anti social behaviour, focusing on environmental enforcement. The service was accredited by Nottinghamshire Police enabling officers to use some enforcement powers also used by Police Community Support Officers. Community Safety is a priority for the Council and the Council has continued to increase the resources to tackle anti social behaviour and provide our residents with a first class service.
Working alongside our partners we have made great strides in how we support victims and tackle offenders, using statutory powers whenever needed. There is however increasing demand for our assistance and our focus is therefore both on helping to solve immediate issues but also working to prevent re-occurrence.
