Ashfield District Council’s final Christmas light switch on event is taking place on Hucknall Market Place car park this week on Wednesday 6 December.

The big light switch on will take place at 7pm and will see the tree, town centre lights and popular 3D feature light come to life.

Join the festive fun in Hucknall from 4pm – 7.30pm and enjoy a packed stage with performances from Holgate Primary School, Believe Academy, Flying High Choir, Phase One Dance, Elise Florence Dance Company, Linby cum Papplewick and Hucknall National Schools Choir, Believe Academy, Torkard Ensemble, and Hucknall Ukulele Group. The stage will finish with a grand finale by Ziggy Pop.

Cllr Jason Zadrozny, Leader of Ashfield District Council said

“The reaction and turnout to our first two Christmas events have been amazing, so we can’t wait to bring our final Christmas event to Hucknall. It’s set to be a magical evening, that will truly get everyone into the festive spirit.”

As well as the live entertainment there will be almost 80 stalls for visitors to browse across Hucknall Market Place car park, and Hucknall High Street offering everything from pet treats, jewellery, candles, crystals, crafts, gifts, knitted toys, personalised gifts, pocket money toys, and plenty of food options to keep the whole family happy.

Food and drink options include authentic German sausage, Nigerian street food, Back-a-Yard Jamaican cuisine, homemade curries and samosas, hot chocolate, flavoured cheeses, brownies, cakes and more.

For the event Baker Street will be closed from 12pm, and Market Place car park will be closed. The Council are offering free parking in all Council-owned car parks for December, this includes Piggins Croft and Yorke Street.
