Veolia strike action and bin collection update (29 September)

Staff from Veolia, who work on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council, are in the middle of strike action which could last until 8 October.

Veolia operate the waste transfer centres used by Ashfield District Council to dispose of the waste we collect from Ashfield’s residents and businesses.

Veolia are working to ensure there are sites available to allow the Council to dispose of household and trade waste we’ve collected but some disruption is possible.

Ashfield residents should continue to put bins out for collection as usual on scheduled collection days.

If we are not able to collect your bin on your scheduled day, please leave it out as we may have to come back to collect on a different day. You do not need to contract us if your bin isn’t collected as we will know we haven’t collected it.

If residents need to dispose of excess waste, there are sites across the District that accept household recycling (these are the sites you would normally use) – you can find out where your nearest site is on Nottinghamshire County Council website.

We will post further updates on the website and our social media channels.

We apologise for any inconvenience that the industrial action may cause to residents and we will be doing everything possible to minimise disruption on the services we deliver.
