Council successful in £1.2m housing fund bid

The funding targets social properties with an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) below a rating of C. The money will be used on properties across the District.  It will help to cut fuel bills for social housing tenants as well as delivering warm homes and reducing carbon emissions.

£179m of funding has been made available to Councils nationally to improve EPC levels to at least at rating of C or above through a fabric first approach. The Council submitted its bid in October 2021. Earlier this month the Council was told of its successful bid. Ashfield District Council is one of only 69 Councils chosen for the funding.

Cllr Tom Hollis, Cabinet Member for Housing said:

“It is fantastic that the Council has secured this funding. It will allow us to make energy efficiency improvements to Council properties across the District. At a time when we are all feeling the effects of increased energy bills, the improvements will cut tenants fuel bills and keep their homes warmer.

“This is also a great stepping stone to us achieving our target of near net zero emissions alongside future works such as renewable heating. The funding will also support jobs in the green energy sector. The Council is currently working to ensure all properties within our stock are at least EPC C rated by 2030, we are committed to making Ashfield a greener place to live work and visit.”
