Council to host anti-social behaviour awareness roadshows
As part of national Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, Ashfield District Council and Nottinghamshire Police are hosting a series of surgeries across the District between Monday 3rd July and Friday 7th July 2023.
During the week, Council officers from Community Safety, Housing, and Environmental Health Teams, alongside Nottinghamshire Police will be hosting drop in sessions across Ashfield. Residents will be able to seek advice about any anti-social behaviour and neighbourhood issues they may be experiencing.
The sessions will take place between 11am and 2pm on:
- Monday 3rd July – Portland Square, Sutton
- Tuesday 4th July – Hucknall High Street
- Thursday 6th July – Kirkby Plaza
- Friday 7th July – Selston Country Park
During business year 2022/2023, the Council’s Community Safety Team have issued 532 Community Protection Warnings, 73 PSPO breaches, 56 Tenancy Warnings, completed 201 safeguarding referrals, issued 60 FPN’s, undertaken 7 Closure Orders with the Police and taken 9 cases to court resulting in convictions.
Cllr Helen-Ann Smith, Lead Executive Member for Community Safety and Crime Reduction, said:
“We are proud to support Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week, a national initiative running between 3-7 July 2023. These sessions will give us valuable insight into the problems residents are facing.
It’s important that residents feel they can talk to the teams and that their concerns will be listened to, and acted upon. I want to reassure residents that the Council will take all concerns seriously, so please come and talk to us.”

Jon Hewitt – Ashfield Neighbourhood Policing Inspector of Nottinghamshire Police, said:
“As a Neighbourhood Policing Team, we prioritise anti-social behaviour, and we work closely with our partners such as Ashfield District Council to improve feelings of safety across the District. We urge you to contact us if you wish to report anti-social behaviour by contacting 999 in an emergency or crime in progress or 101 in a non-emergency situation.’’
