Ashfield Food and Drink Festival on South Street, Hucknall. Families enjoying the event.

Ashfield Food and Drink Festival a huge success

Thousands of people attended Ashfield District Council’s Food and Drink Festival which took place on Hucknall High Street on Sunday 21 August. The Council partnered with Discover Ashfield and Lincoln Green Brewery to host the event which saw over 35 stalls selling a variety of artisan food, drinks, produce and gifts.

The event was so popular many stall holders were selling out by the afternoon thanks to the large numbers of visitors. Some of the highlights included

  • Beanin Coffee – a mobile coffee van selling freshly roasted artisan coffee
  • Colombo Street – selling authentic, vibrant, Sri Lankan street food
  • De One Kitchen – selling authentic Nigerian food including meat and chicken pies, Puff Puff, Jollof Rice, Chin Chin, and fried beef, chicken and plantain
  • Penny Lane Fudge – luxury artisan fudge (all gluten free) including vegan and dairy free options
  • Sweet Spot Sweeties – pick n mix sweets including vegan, gluten free and diary free options
  • Talia’s Treats – homemade muffins, biscuits, chocolate and biscoff twists, Lemon Drizzle, and Carrot Cakes

There was also plenty of freshly made hot food including authentic Neapolitan pizzas from B’Reyt Dough, samosas and epic onion bhaji burgers from Chilli Guys, and Sicilian food from Heart of Sicily. Homemade gooey luxury brownies were on offer from Blondie Brownie Bakes alongside stuffed cookie cups from Outlaw Cookie Club. Cider and ale lovers enjoyed a variety of breweries including Hucknall’s own Torkard Cider and Lincoln Green Brewery.

Cllr Lee Waters, Ward Councillor for Hucknall North “The Food and Drinks Festival was another hugely successful event with what seemed like thousands attending. The food and drink stalls were amazing and we were so pleased to bring this popular festival yet again to the heart of Hucknall. Of Course, the event was tinged with sadness after the sad death of popular Hucknall Councillor Jim Blagden. We took the time to toast Jim and his massive contribution to Hucknall. The Food And Drink Festival was something Jim pushed for relentlessly and the massive turn out was a great tribute”
Cllr John Wilmott, Ward Councillor for Hucknall North, said “It was great to so many residents supporting small businesses at the Food and Drink Festival and it was a huge success so thank you to everyone who attended. The Food and Drink Festival follows a summer of fantastic free events from Ashfield District Council, and there’s still more to come with Ashfield Day on the 27 August and the Ashfield Film Festival in partnership with Arc Cinema!”

Ashfield District Council is proud to offer a full events calendar for all the family to enjoy, which promotes inclusion and accessibility so that everyone can enjoy what’s on offer in Ashfield
