Stanton Hill Resident convicted for Planning Offences
A resident has been ordered to pay over £4,000 following planning offences at his property in Stanton Hill, Sutton in Ashfield.
Olumide Oluremi Bambo was served with an Enforcement Notice in July 2020 in relation to land adjacent to his property.
The Defendant had erected a building structure on land he did not own, and without the required planning permission.
Mr Bambo failed to remove the structure or appeal the notice and was therefore deemed to have failed to comply with the Enforcement Notice.
Appearing before Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on Monday 29th March, Mr Bambo was found guilty of failing to comply with the planning Enforcement Notice. The Defendant was given a £3,000 fine, £190 victim surcharge and £1000 costs, totalling £4,190.
Ruth Dennis, Director of Legal and Governance of Ashfield District Council said: “The Council welcomes the outcome of the case against Mr Bambo. We know how much this has affected nearby residents in Stanton Hill, so it was important that we took firm and decisive action against him.
“This case sends a clear message that breaches of planning will not be allowed under any circumstances and action will be taken wherever necessary to conserve our District.
“The Council will not tolerate people who think they can take the law into their own hands. The planning process is fair and is in place to deter inappropriate developments like this. I would like to urge residents who wish to develop their property to fully research the planning regulations first and, if in doubt, to check with us to save unnecessary expense and hassle.
