Council Flies Flag for Commonwealth Day

Ashfield District Council celebrates Commonwealth Day with flag raising ceremony. The theme for this years’ service is ‘One Resilient Common Future’

Commonwealth Day is an annual celebration on the 11 March which marks the start of a week-long series of events and activities happening around the globe. Chairman of the Council, Cllr Dale Grounds hosted the ceremony outside the Council Officers in Kirkby in Ashfield.

Leader of the Council, Cllr Jason Zadrozny said:

'The Commonwealth stands as an example of unity and diversity that overcomes boundaries and prejudices. This year’s theme of ‘resilience and common future’ resonate with our goals of making Ashfield more resilient, and that we are all in this together'.

Chairman of the Council, Cllr Dale Grounds said:

'I’m proud to represent Ashfield for this year’s Commonwealth Day celebrations. This year’s theme recognises that only together can we work for a better future that includes everyone'

The flag raising for ‘Armed Forces Day, will be held on 29 June at the Council Offices on Urban Road in Kirkby in Ashfield.
