On the 17th of May Ashfield District Council raised the flag for IdahoBiT day; the day against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia is a world wide celebration of sexual and gender diversities. The Leader of Ashfield District Council, Councillor Jason Zadrozny, Deputy Leader, Councillor Tom Hollis and Councillor Helen-Ann Smith as well as the Chief Executive, Robert Mitchell took part in the celebration for IdahoBiT day.
IdahoBiT day was created in 2004 and draws attention to the violence and discrimination LGBTI people experience internationally. The International Day against Homophobia, Transphobia, and Biphobia is celebrated in more than 130 countries worldwide and brings together millions people in support of human rights for all.
The leader of Ashfield District Council, Councillor Jason Zadrozny said ‘’It’s important for the Council to show the support for equality and diversity especially on this important date. The Council is pleased to raise the flag for this event as ADC are committed to developing communities where individuals can be themselves and discrimination of any form will not be tolerated, the raising of the flag demonstrates our ongoing support.’’
