Students from Sutton Community Academy unveiled their artwork this week alongside Cllr Jason Zadrozny at Idlewells Indoor Market.
A Level Photography students had the opportunity to produce some community artwork for display in Idlewells Indoor Market, Sutton. Their brief was to create a piece of artwork that reflected the varied customers and traders of the market. The students took a few weeks out of the curriculum to create the photographs of the market, the traders, their products and their customers. The project was funded by Ashfield District Council.
The photographs were coloured in a pop art style then printed onto acrylic blocks and mounted onto the wall of the Market Street entrance for everyone to enjoy.
Cllr Jason Zadrozny, Leader of Ashfield District Council, said “We are very proud to support this fantastic project that showcases the talent of the young people of Ashfield. Their artwork is a wonderful representation of the new market; it is fresh and vibrant which reflects the colourful traders and their products.”
“The community art adds the personal touch to the market, which has been transformed since the refurbishment. I would like to thank all of the students from Sutton Community Academy for their hard work, their art is a brilliant addition to the market.”
