Ashfield celebrates Christmas 2023

Ashfield District Council’s annual Christmas lights switch on events have been attended by thousands of visitors over the past three weeks.

The Council have brought the festive spirit to Ashfield over the past three weeks, with lights switch on events in Sutton, Kirkby, and Hucknall. All three events saw thousands of visitors flocking to the town centres to see the lights come on, shop the market stalls, and enjoy the performances on stage.

Cllr Jason Zadrozny, Leader of Ashfield District Council said:

“A huge thank you to everyone who attended our Christmas events, I think it’s safe to say they were our biggest yet. We would also like to say thank you to our wonderful performers, local traders, and of course the volunteers and Council staff who made these events possible.
“Ashfield District Council will continue to deliver free, family-friendly events throughout the year, and next year will be even bigger, and even better, so watch this space.”

On offer at all three events were countless market stalls with food, gifts, crafts, jewellery, pet accessories, personalised items, homemade baked goods, and more.

Visitors to Sutton can now see the giant snowman illuminated on Portland Square, with the tree on Low Street. The twinkling 3D penguins and tree can be found on Lowmoor Road in Kirkby. Hucknall Market Place car park is home to Charlie the polar bear, with the tree across the road on the High Street.
