Council trials new system ahead of launching Environmental pledges

Starting this week, Ashfield District Council will be trialling a new scheduling system for the Districts environmental services.

Following resident feedback, Ashfield District Council Officers have been developing a new digital system that can be used to schedule routines for operations such as street sweeping and emptying public litter bins.

Once the system has been tested thoroughly over the coming months, the results will inform the Council’s pledges to residents in the Environmental Charter, which will be launched in the new year.

The first trial starts this week in Hucknall, with the aim of emptying all 173 street litter bins, at least once every week.

Cllr Jason Zadrozny, Leader of ADC, said “We are excited to test out the new system that we have developed to ensure that every street is swept, litter bins emptied and grass areas are mowed on schedule. We are going to be launching the Environmental Charter next year and it is important that our residents can hold the Council to account on the pledges we will make.

“We really value your feedback, and we want to hear from you if we are doing a great job, or if something can be improved. One of the Council’s priorities is to ensure that the District is clean and safe for everyone to enjoy. This new scheduling system will help us to achieve this aim, and we truly hope that you will be able to see the difference”
