New Leisure Contract will see more huge improvements across Ashfield

Ashfield District Council has successfully renewed its partnership with Everyone Active, saving £630,000 per year.

Following a procurement process, Everyone Active were the successful bidder for the new contract starting 1st April 2021 and running for ten years.

The new contract means the Council will be making a huge saving of £630,000 per year. This saving will allow the Council to make vast improvements to the District’s leisure provision over the next few years.

Major commitments include a new swimming facility at Hucknall, new adventure play offer at Lammas and extensions to fitness suites at both Hucknall and Lammas Leisure Centres.

It will also see concessionary rates for priority groups continue and the inclusion of apprenticeships, work placements and volunteering opportunities for Ashfield residents.

The leisure centres will become even more inclusive, with new sensory equipment in swimming pools, an online activity offer and a substantial community programme, including Feel Good Families events, holiday hunger clubs, activities in areas of deprivation and free u17s holiday provision.

On top of this, a further £440,000 will be invested to reduce carbon emissions across all of the sites, meaning the centres will be greener and running costs will be lower.

Councillor Jason Zadrozny, Leader of Ashfield District Council, said:

“I’m delighted that we are renewing with Everyone Active for what will be another decade of success. We have built a great partnership and long may it continue.
“The brand new £15.5m facility coming to Kirkby will see two state-of-the-art swimming pools, adventure play, a cinema, climbing walls and much more. The commitments within this new contract mean that our current facilities in Hucknall and Sutton will not be left behind.
“Let it be said that this is an outstanding deal for the District including social, environmental and economic improvements that will benefit Ashfield for years to come.”

Lorenzo Clark, Everyone Active's Contract Manager said:

"Everyone Active has enjoyed a long-standing relationship with Ashfield District Council which has gone from strength to strength.
"We are extremely proud of this partnership and are delighted to have extended it for another 10 years.
"Serving communities is at the heart of what we do and we are committed to providing the very best experience for our customers at our centres in Ashfield.
"We look forward to continuing to do that over the next decade as well as maintaining our efforts to engage people in physical activity."
